June 21, 2022 · Did someone say Release? Just on time for Summer Zammad 5.2 comes with cool new features 😎

1. 🏢 Multi organizations for customers

If you create organizations in Zammad and assign them to customers, then you can get a clear overview of the tickets of all customers of this organization and also monitor activities. Previously, only one organization could be assigned to each customer. With this version, you can now assign one primary and multiple secondary organizations to each of your customers.

2. 🧙 Multi LDAP integration

Many customers know this feature and do not want to miss it. With Zammad's previous LDAP integration, you can quickly and easily connect your existing LDAP directory to Zammad via a wizard. Our users love this LDAP wizard for its simplicity and intuitiveness.
But what about organizations where users are maintained in different LDAP servers (e.g. agents in the internal LDAP and all customers in another LDAP)? Don't worry we haven't forgotten you! From now on you can connect multiple LDAP servers to your Zammad at the same time.

3. 📅 .ics Preview - No more guesswork

Who doesn't know it? You get an appointment invitation in an email in Zammad and you have to download it first to see the contents. From now on, this belongs in the past! Starting with this version, you can preview appointments that are sent as attachments. You will see the title, date, time, and other contents of the appointment, so you won't have to open and download it every time to see which appointment it is.

4. 🌳 Multi tree select

Assigning tickets to categories helps to organize, structure, and also search tickets. Already with Zammad 5.1, we have provided multiple selections for "selection fields".
With the new version 5.2, there is now also a variant with multiple selections for the tree selection. Where previously only one option could be selected, now multiple options can be selected per field.

Breaking Changes

Ruby 3.0:

The ruby version used by Zammad has changed - this affects source code installations only.

Soft deprecation:

Zammads scheduler.rb process has been renamed to background-worker.rb. This mainly affects source code installation. Please consult the update documentation for more: https://docs.zammad.org/en/latest/install/update.html

The command to rebuild your searchindex is now (zammad run) rake zammad:searchindex:rebuild instead of (zammad run) rake searchindex:rebuild

Frontend logging

The option "Send client stats" has been removed with Zammad 5.2. Older instances will soon no longer be able to send log feedback to our central logging service. Upgrading "disables" the behavior automatically.
