At the Nextcloud Conference on October 3, 2020, Zammad and Nextcloud have announced an upcoming cooperation. This will bring helpful new features to the users of both tools, beginning with a Zammad widget on Nextcloud’s new Dashboard.
Zammad is one of the most successful helpdesk and ticketing systems. Teaming up with Nextcloud, the most popular on-premises content collaboration platform, is a meaningful step that will bring benefits to both providers as well their users.
The collaboration has been kicked off with the announcement of Nextcloud’s new Dashboard. Among many other features, it will include widgets for various tools, allowing the user to keep track of a series of platforms, streams, and channels from just one surface.
The Zammad widget on the Dashboard will include a ticket overview, a search function (based on Nextcloud’s new unified search), and updates on pending tickets. This way Nextcloud users can easily keep an eye on their Zammad tickets and react or send responses much quicker.
As both platforms are open-source solutions that can be self-hosted, the two providers share very similar philosophies and priorities, setting a solid foundation for strong cooperation.
Martin Edenhofer, Founder and CEO of Zammad, strongly believes the two platforms make an excellent match, and said:
"Zammad enables users to manage tasks and incoming customer requests. Open-source, self-hosted cloud technologies allow networking and integration with each other. Nextcloud and Zammad complement each other and integration provides users with improved productivity."
This is a feeling that Frank Karlitschek, Founder and CEO at Nextcloud GmbH, shares:
"With Nextcloud we offer a platform for real-time collaboration and communication. The new Zammad integration capabilities in Nextcloud create a more integrated experience for users, bringing the two platforms closer together. Users can see urgent tasks on their dashboard and plan work in the morning, quickly find issues using the search, or get notified about customer responses."
The integration app is available from the Nextcloud app store. It is currently laid out for the just-released Nextcloud 20. Customers that need help with the setup are welcome to reach out to Zammad and/or Nextcloud.
The new Zammad integration is just one of many features that come with the release of Nextcloud 20. Two other main features are its unified search function and the Talk, which can now be connected to various internet telephony tools.
Zammad is the most popular open-source helpdesk and customer support platform for companies of all sizes and industries. Zammad’s user interface was developed in collaboration with the award-winning UI experts from Zeughaus. It breaks with old traditions and is based on the familiar use of web browsers and smartphones, making it intuitive and easy-to-use.
Its numerous smart features and integrations make Zammad stand out against other providers. Behind the project is an experienced development team led by Martin Edenhofer, who launched the commercially successful, enterprise-scale OTRS ticket system in 2001.
Nextcloud Hub is the industry-leading, fully open-source, on-premises team productivity platform, combining the easy user interface of consumer-grade cloud solutions with the security and compliance measures enterprises need. Nextcloud Hub brings together universal access to data through mobile, desktop, and web interfaces with next-generation, on-premise secure communication and collaboration features like real-time document editing, chat, and video calls, putting them under the direct control of IT and integrated with existing infrastructure.
Nextcloud’s easy and quick deployment, open, modular architecture, and emphasis on security and advanced federation capabilities enable modern enterprises to leverage their existing file storage assets within and across the borders of their organization.
